Frequently Asked Questions

We understand that deciding on a nursery for your child can be a daunting experience! We have put together some of our ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ that we hope you will find useful!

What do you include in your fees?

  • Breakfast for children in before 8:45am
  • Mid-morning and mid-afternoon snacks
  • Cows milk for children over 12 months
  • Tea for children in after 4:00pm
  • Nappies & Wipes (please note only specific brands are offered)
  • Water Bottles for all Pre-School children
  • Lidded cups for Under Two’s

Do you accept the Free Entitlement Funding?

Yes, we accept 2 Year Old Funding (15 hours), 3 & 4 Year Old Universal Funding (15 hours) and 3 & 4 Year Old Extended Funding (30 hours) at both of our nurseries. Our Fee List clearly states which sessions funding can be used for and the number of hours required. The only sessions you can’t use Free Entitlement Funding for is the stand alone lunch sessions at our Parklands Nursery.

Is there a minimum or maximum number of sessions a child can attend per week?

No, however, we have found that children who only attend one session per week can find it difficult to settle in as it is such a long time between visits to Nursery. We are always happy to try scheduling one session per week and then keep in regular contact with you about your child’s progress. Any decisions regarding your child’s sessions would be made in conjunction with you.

Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! Our sibling discount is for any families with more than one child at Teddy Wilf’s Nurseries. The eldest child will receive 10% off their fees. Terms & Conditions Apply. Not to be used in Conjunction with any other discount or special offer.

Do you have a Nursery Uniform?

Yes, Teddy Wilf’s Nurseries does have a uniform consisting of an embroidered sky blue polo shirt or t-shirt and a navy blue embroidered fleece or cardigan. There are also additional items such as drawstring bags and name labels available. They can all be purchased from My Clothing on the link below. However, the uniform items are entirely optional!

Does my child need to be potty trained before joining the Pre-School Room?

NO! We are more than happy to accept children in nappies and our practitioners will work with you when you are ready to start the potty-training process.

My child needs medication whilst at nursery – what should I do?

This will depend on whether it is a one-off, for example for antibiotics, or an ongoing medication such as an inhaler. For one-off medications you will be asked to complete a medication form which details when and how much medication should be administered to your child. For ongoing medication, you will be asked to complete a medication form and a Healthcare Plan. The Healthcare Plan will give basic information about your child’s medical needs and when to administer their medication. It will also give details of what to do in the event of an emergency so we can keep your child safe.  Please ask to see our Medication Policy for more information.

I would like my child to join Teddy Wilf’s Nurseries, what happens next?

If you have not yet organised to come and see our Nurseries, then please give Rachael or Megan a call on 07881740168 and we can book something in the diary!

If you have already been to visit the Nursery you will have been given a pack with lots of information about us and a Formal Registration Form. Please complete the form and return it, along with the Administration Fee, as soon as possible. Once Rachael or Megan have processed the paperwork, we will pass the information on to your child’s Room Leader who will phone to organise two settle visits.

During the first Settle Visit we will ask you to stay and complete some paperwork with your child’s Key Person. This document is called ‘All About Me’ and, as the title suggests, we ask you for lots of information about your child. What do they like? Dislike? who are their important grown-ups? how do they communicate? and is there anything they are afraid of? The member of Staff will then ask you some questions specifically about your child’s development. This helps us to establish your child’s starting point or baseline. This basically means – where was your child in their development when they started nursery?

On the second settle visit, you can pop out for an hour, go and have a cup of coffee or get some shopping done. We will see how your child gets on without you and formulate a plan from there. If they settle fairly quickly, engage with the activities on offer and start to build bonds with Staff then we will be able to schedule their official start date. However, if little one is very upset, doesn’t settle and finds it all too much we will simply organise a couple more settle sessions for them to get to know the nursery, the staff and develop the understanding that you are coming back.

We offer a very flexible Settling in process as no two children are the same and starting nursery can be very exciting, but it can also be a little bit scary and for some children it can be completely overwhelming. We will work closely with you to make it as enjoyable as possible!

Do your Staff provide babysitting services?

Our Staff are not prohibited from babysitting; however, this will be a private arrangement between you and the member of Staff.  Our team work very long hours so they often want to go home and put their pyjamas on but if they agree to babysit then this is at their discretion. We must ask that any babysitting is discussed outside of Nursery hours and the Nursery premises.

Do you open on weekends?

No, Teddy Wilf’s Nurseries do not open on weekends, i.e. on Saturdays or Sundays. There may be occasions where we organise special events such as Open Days or Parent Meetings on a Saturday, but these will be advertised in advance and Staff will not be responsible for any children during the event as Parents will be expected to attend with their children.

Do you still have some questions?

We hope this has answered your questions, but if there is anything you are not sure about, please give Rachael or Megan a call on 07881740168 and they will be more than happy to help!
